Certified to carry ESPN networks

Vidgo was one of only six over-the-top platforms certified to carry ESPN networks. Certification means the platform met the network’s technical and compliance requirements for rights management, blackout enforcement and broadcast-grade reliability. The Velostream team achieved it as an independent operator, without the backing of a telecom, a hyperscaler or a studio.

Architecture

Acquire, process, package, monetize, deliver, play back: every step orchestrated by API, monitored, and designed to scale without adding operators. The pipeline used AWS Elemental for media processing, FreeWheel and Google Ad Manager for ad decisioning, and Widevine and FairPlay for DRM, with auto-healing pipelines and multi-region failover underneath.

Why the platform could run itself

The system treated live signals and file-based media as one problem. Each source got a transcoding profile built for it rather than a fixed ladder; security was applied at ingest; the same asset could serve different viewing groups on different expiration dates; and updates, retention and expiry ran without a person in the loop. That design is what U.S. Patent No. 12,581,137 claims, and it is why a platform with more than 500 channels needed a small team rather than a broadcast operations floor.

The team is intact

The engineers who designed, built and operated the platform are at Velostream today, led by the patent’s inventor. For counsel, that means direct access to the people who can explain the system, map its claims to products in the market, review source under protective order, and testify.
